Prayer for Fathers

God our Father,

in your wisdom and love you made all things.

Bless these men,

that they may be strengthened as Christian fathers.

Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.

Grant that we, their sons and daughters,

may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect.

Grant this through Christ our Lord.

Amen

Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to our Year 4 students on making their First Holy Communion on the weekend. This was a very reverent celebration of initiation. Thank you to Fr Cyp, Fr Cornelius, Rosellie our Parish Sacramental Coordinator, our families, Mrs Kolbe, Mrs Pitman, Mrs Herbison, Mrs Lihou, Mrs Shirren and Mr Carter for making this so special for our students.

One Big Voice occurred last Friday evening and was an excellent experience for our choir. Students loved the opportunity, performed confidently and contributed skilfully to the large choir. It was great to see so many parents and carers there supporting them. Thank you to Mrs Chapman for her efforts in preparing the choir and for organising our participation. We also appreciate parents and staff who assisted in the background.

Last week, we held several carnivals including the Year 5 and 6 Throws, Jumps; Year 3 and 4 Throws, Jumps; and 400m and 800m events. These were well organised events which enabled the students to come together united, to try their best and work cooperatively as a faction. These carnivals provide opportunities for students to demonstrate some of the skills they have learned at Physical Education and Sport lessons, to try and beat their previous personal best and to encourage and support the development of their team mates. It is also a great way for our Year 6 students to show the responsibility they have developed as leaders and to assist staff to prepare each student for their events. The carnival requires much work in the background, and we are thankful to Mrs Richards and Mrs Knox for the many hours that go into these events and to Mr Garner and Mr Rutley for ensuring the grounds were ready and looked great for the day. We would also like to thank the parents/carers, grandparents and family members who attended to support. Thank you in particularly to parents/carers and staff for assisting to set up, volunteering for roles during the day and for assisting to pack up at the end. Our Junior and Senior Athletics Carnivals will occur next week.

Best wishes to our Tournament of Minds teams who will compete this weekend at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup. They have been working hard with Mrs Hales to prepare. This is a great part of our extension program, and we thank the many staff and families who are supporting this on Saturday.

We look forward to welcoming our many dads, grandfathers and father figures to our breakfast on Friday morning. Thank you for what you do for your children and for the assistance and support you provide to our school.

Best wishes, God Bless and Happy Fathers’ Day

National Child Protection Week | 6 to 12 September

This is a week where we take a moment to reflect upon the importance of caring for our children and ensuring they are allowed to grow and develop in supportive and nurturing environments.

This year the theme is Every Conversation Matters, Shifting Conversation to Action, driving a stronger national focus on shifting conversations into meaningful action.

Conversations are a starting point for sparking new ideas and encouraging reflection, but real change happens when those conversations translate into practical steps that create safer environments and stronger support for children and families. National Child Protection Week helps turn these conversations into action and extends beyond the week itself as a year-round campaign.

National Child Protection Week brings people across Australia together to strengthen support systems, prevent harm and help children grow up safe and supported. By shifting conversations to action, we can build communities where every child not only feels heard but also experiences real safety, care and protection.

National Child Protection Week

R U OK? Day

Thursday, 10th September is R U OK? Day but we know that people around us go through life’s ups and downs every day which is why it is important to keep the conversation going all year round.

A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week.  Whether it’s your friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about value trust, a sense of genuine care, and someone who really listens to them without judgement so, if someone is on your mind, trust your instinct and start a conversation.

By having regular, meaningful conversations we normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to. So, whilst R U OK? Day on Thursday September 10 is the National Day of Action, you are being encouraged to ask R U OK? Any Day of the year because a conversation could change a life.

PARENT SURVEY: CONSENT AND RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS EDUCATION

As part of Catholic Education Western Australia’s ongoing commitment to supporting schools in the delivery of Consent and Respectful Relationships Education (CRRE), CEWA is seeking feedback from parents and carers about their information and support needs in this area.

The survey will:
• Gather information about parents’ current understanding of consent and respectful relationships education.
• Identify topics parents would value further information or support with.
• Inform the development of future parent-facing resources and engagement opportunities.
• Support CEWA and schools to strengthen partnerships with families around student wellbeing and healthy relationships.

The survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete and responses are anonymous.

Exciting Update for our Early Years’ Uniform – 2027

As part of an exciting new chapter for our Early Years’, our Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten Co-Horts will be introduced to new branding from 2027.  This updated branding will also feature on the Early Years’ uniform range and our School Values.

To support families during this transition, the current uniform will remain acceptable throughout 2027.  This means children may still wear either the current or new style of t-shirt during the 2027 school year.

Please note, that from the beginning of 2028, all Pre-Kindy and Kindy students will be required to wear the new uniform style.

To assist families with this change:

  • The new style uniform will be available to purchase from Tara Uniforms from December 2026
  • Existing uniforms will be available to purchase through the Admin Office at a clearance price of 3 shirts for $30 *While stocks last*

Kindy 2028 | Enrolments Now Open!

Ken's Club

Over the past couple of years, Ken White has been generously offering his time to support our Year 4 students with their times tables.  We’re now excited to grow this wonderful initiative and invite WCPS Grandparents to join Ken’s Club 2026 –  helping students build confidence and master their times tables!

If you would like to be part of this rewarding program, please email your expression of interest to: admin@wcps.wa.edu.au

Parking & Drive-Through

We would like to remind our community the importance of safety during drop-off and pick-up times, particularly in and around the school carpark and nearby streets.

Please note, Marmion Avenue is not a designated drop-off/pick-up zone. Stopping or collecting students in this area places children, families, and drivers at significant risk.

To ensure a safe and orderly pick-up, all parents are asked to use one of the following approved locations:

  • The front car park
  • Barradine Drive
  • Culwalla Close (via the underpass)

These areas are designed to provide a safer environment for student collection and help us maintain smooth traffic flow around the school.

We also ask families to take extra care when parking and manoeuvring in surrounding streets and in the Basketball Courts.  We understand that pick-up time can be very busy, and we appreciate your cooperation in reinforcing safe practices. The safety of our school community is our highest priority.

CEWA Announcement | Three-week Mid-Year Break

Catholic Education WA (CEWA) has announced it intends to implement a three-week mid-year break across its 150 schools from the 2027 academic year. The implementation of this initiative will not only bring our school in line with practices at other Independent Catholic Schools but is based on significant research into how the change will positively impact teaching, learning, and wellbeing. I want to stress that there won’t be any changes to the hours of instruction your child receives as a result of this initiative, however small adjustments to individual term calendars and school timetables may be required. Please see the link below for frequently asked questions regarding the implementation of the three-week break.
