Prayer of St Francis of Assisi
(Prayer for Peace)
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen
Message From The Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Last Wednesday morning, student leaders Charlie Robertson and William Plichta attended the Archbishop’s LifeLink launch and represented our school. We thank them for the great pride, example and leadership that they demonstrated – they were excellent ambassadors of our school. The LifeLink organisation was established by the Archdiocese of Perth in 1994 to provide for the ongoing financial support of agencies established or assisted by the Church to assist those most vulnerable in our community. These agencies include: IdentityWA, The Shopfront, CentreCare Inc, Catholic Ministry for People who are Deaf or Hearing Impaired, Catholic Outreach, Emmanuel Centre, DayDawn Advocacy Centre, Emmaus Community, Centacare Employment and Training, and Samaritan Projects. LifeLink funded agencies reach out to help tens of thousands of Western Australian families and individuals in need. On the 26th June, students can come dressed in red and bring a gold coin donation that will be donated to this very worthy cause. Supporting this gives us the opportunity to practise our school values of Faith and Service.
Congratulations to our Infinite Minds teams, who participate in extension activities and have recently achieved outstanding success. They placed in the top ten of the Cluedunnit competition run by the Law Society of WA and finished 7th out of 24 teams in the Ethics Olympiad competition, competing against schools across Australasia, including Melbourne, Queensland, Hong Kong and Singapore! Well done to the students and Mrs Hales.
The way students conduct themselves is important in achieving their full potential. Every individual represents themselves, their family, their friends, their class and their school. As students reach the end of the term and become tired, it is crucial that they maintain the high standards and expectations set by their families and our school. This will help them finish the term positively and proud of themselves. Please discuss the Student Code of Conduct with your child and the key points under the headings of Be respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. The Code is available on our website at the following link. This includes wearing uniform correctly and demonstrating positive behaviours that promote our school values.
Wearing the uniform correctly and with pride includes wearing the correct elements of the uniform on the correct days. It also includes tucking shirts in and being presentable. Please note that part of uniform includes hair. The following is from our Uniform Policy:
- Hair longer than the collar is to be tied back, clean, brushed and kept off the face.
- Hair must be a natural colour only, with extreme hair colours and styles not acceptable. This also includes lines and patterns in hairstyles.
The manners and respect shown by our students with each other and with adults is generally excellent. We aim to highlight students doing the right thing and emphasise that manners are part of everyday interaction with each other including at school, home and in the community. It is worthwhile taking the time to slow down and ensure we are expecting the best from our students.
Family partnerships with school are very important. Students will aspire to the expectations that are put to them and when school and home are aligned in what they expect for children, children are more likely to achieve success. Good adult relationships are key examples for students who are developing socially and growing their own friendships and resilience. We are fortunate at WCPS that we have great relationships among families, between families and staff and among staff. Students watch these interactions daily and learn from these.
Student reports will be available at the end of the term on SEQTA. The report is a summary of your child’s progress against the achievements standards that relate to the content that was covered in Semester One. The report will help you have a conversation with your child in regard to their achievement, effort, responsibility and attitude towards learning. It will help you celebrate successes and to also determine some areas of focus for Semester Two. It is important that students own their efforts and achievements and that as adults in our children’s lives we ensure that they understand and appreciate they are the most influential person, with family and school support, in determining the results they achieve.
On Friday, the Interschool Cross Country Carnival will take place at Mawson Park. Next Wednesday, 24th June, we will hold our Arts Showcase compromising our Junior Dance and Senior Music performers in the gym. Families are welcome to attend these events.
Best wishes and God Bless

World Wellbeing Week
World Wellbeing Week is from 24th to the 30th June, a week to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of our wellbeing. This global awareness week encourages individuals, schools and workplaces to pause, reflect, and engage in practices that support physical, mental, emotional, social and financial wellbeing across everyday life.
Wellbeing Week looks at our actions to support good mental health, having the power to take charge of our own mental health journey by finding purpose through our engagement within our communities and, through the connection gained from supporting others.
During World Wellbeing Week, we can all take stock of our own wellbeing, as well as look out for the wellbeing of our loved ones and others in our community. As parents and teachers, World Wellbeing Week is the perfect time to provide children and young people with the skills and tools they’ll need to support their own mental health and wellbeing.
Some simple practices to help you with your wellbeing journey are:
- Do a wellbeing activity each day. Keep up a daily self-care practice by taking the time for yourself to do a wellbeing activity, such as journaling, doing yoga, cooking a nourishing meal, or talking with a close friend.
- As a family. Spend some quality time together daily with no distractions or devices. Around the dinner table is a great opportunity to talk, reconnect and check in on how everyone’s day has been. Weekly, set a specific day and time when, as a family, you all do an activity together such as play a game, go to the park, ride a bike or walk the dog together.
- Talk to your children or loved ones about wellbeing. Opening up a conversation about the importance of wellbeing is a great way to celebrate World Wellbeing Week with those close to you. This can be a perfect time to check on your loved ones or speak to someone else about your own mental health. If you want to talk to your child about what is mental health, this short animation video provides a great explanation for children (and adults) to help them understand: Understanding and Supporting Children’s Mental Health
- Learn more about how to look after your wellbeing. World Wellbeing Week is the perfect time to learn more about looking after your own wellbeing. You may discover new ideas that you haven’t thought about before or gain a fresh perspective on how to boost your physical, mental or emotional wellbeing. Use this wellbeing poster to reflect on your own health, where you can make changes for improved wellbeing in your life and in the lives of your loved ones.

Exciting Update for our Early Years’ Uniform – 2027
As part of an exciting new chapter for our Early Years’, our Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten Co-Horts will be introduced to new branding from 2027. This updated branding will also feature on the Early Years’ uniform range and our School Values.
To support families during this transition, the current uniform will remain acceptable throughout 2027. This means children may still wear either the current or new style of t-shirt during the 2027 school year.
Please note, that from the beginning of 2028, all Pre-Kindy and Kindy students will be required to wear the new uniform style.
To assist families with this change:
- The new style uniform will be available to purchase from Tara Uniforms from December 2026
- Existing uniforms will be available to purchase through the Admin Office at a clearance price of 3 shirts for $30 *While stocks last*
SURVEY – CHILDEN’S ACCESS TO PLAY
CEWA has been approached by Dr. Jacqueline McGowan-Jones, Commissioner for Children and
Young People, to participate in a survey to provide insights into how children and young people
across Western Australia experience play in their everyday lives. Broad participation will help
ensure the strategy reflects diverse perspectives across the state.
This will assist in the development of the WA Play Strategy.
We would appreciate it if you could take the time to complete this short survey in the below link.

We also ask families to take extra care when parking and manoeuvring in surrounding streets. We understand that pick-up time can be very busy, and we appreciate your cooperation in reinforcing safe practices. The safety of our school community is our highest priority.
CEWA Announcement | Three-week Mid-Year Break
Catholic Education WA (CEWA) has announced it intends to implement a three-week mid-year break across its 150 schools from the 2027 academic year. The implementation of this initiative will not only bring our school in line with practices at other Independent Catholic Schools but is based on significant research into how the change will positively impact teaching, learning, and wellbeing. I want to stress that there won’t be any changes to the hours of instruction your child receives as a result of this initiative, however small adjustments to individual term calendars and school timetables may be required. Please see the link below for frequently asked questions regarding the implementation of the three-week break.
