Reconciliation Week Prayer
The Rainbow Prayer
Dear loving Lord, creator of all,
You created us all in your own image’
One image — many colours
One image — many cultures.
You made us come together like a rainbow,
separate parts but coming together in one creation.
Help us to see the beauty you have created in each and every one of us.
Dear loving Lord, we are your creation,
Hear the cries of your people.
You gave us ears to hear and eyes to see,
Open our eyes to what you want us to see,
Help us to always look to you to see the wisdom of your ways.
Dear loving Lord, creator of all
You gave us hearts to love and minds to reason
Help us to understand our differences and grow in love for each other.
Help us to come together as the rainbow comes together,
many colours, shining as one creation over all the earth’
As you intended us to be.
In the name of your dear son, Jesus Christ.
Amen
Message From The Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
We hope that all mothers and mother figures in our community had a happy Mothers’ Day where their love, commitment and dedication were acknowledged and celebrated by their families. On Friday 8th May, we were privileged to host our school mothers, grandmothers and mother figures at the Mothers’ Day Breakfast on the O’Connor Oval. It was lovely to see so many in attendance enjoying breakfast with their children and with each other. We thank you for all that you do for our students, school and community. Thank you also to the Whitty Dads for coordinating this very special event, Mr Garner for preparing the grounds, the school choir and Mrs Chapman for their performance.
Congratulations to all students for their participation in the Junior and Senior Cross Country Carnivals last week. They were outstanding events and provided the students with the opportunity to have a go, try their best and demonstrate great sportspersonship. Thank you to Mrs Richards and Mrs Knox for their tireless efforts in organising training sessions before school and for coordinating the carnivals. Thanks also to Mr Garner and Mr Rutley for preparing the grounds and to staff and families who assisted in settting up and packing away. It is great to see the leadership demonstrated by the sports captains and everyone’s perseverance to overcome their nerves and the distance to complete the course. We wish our interschool team well as they compete in the SSWA Primary Cross Country Carnival today.
National Reconciliation Week begins on the 27th May and runs until 3rd June. This week marks two important events in our year as Australians and begins immediately after National Sorry Day on May 26th. National Sorry Day is a time where we apologise for the poor choices of past generations in the treatment of Aboriginal people. It is an opportunity for us to appreciate the contributions of the first Australians and to acknowledge that decisions of the past have had great negative effects on the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Extending this apology is an important step in the process of reconciliation. May 27 is the anniversary of the 1967 referendum in which more than 90 percent of Australians voted ‘Yes’ to count Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the census and give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples the right to vote and have a say in the government of the country. June 3 marks the anniversary of the historic 1992 Mabo decision in which the High Court of Australia recognised native title – the recognition that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights over their lands did survive British colonisation. The theme for 2026 “All In” calling on all Australians to commit to reconciliation actions, learning and reflection.
To participate fully in the school program, it is crucial that attendance is maintained at close to 100%. We understand that if children are unwell, they will need to stay home and get well but it is unfair to expect growth from children if they are not present to further develop their skills. Attendance reports will soon be sent to families providing your child’s percentage of attendance. The aim is for your child’s attendance rate to be as near to 100% as possible.
Please note that if students arrive late at school, they are required to sign into the office and take a late pass with them to their classroom. This will ensure our system logs their attendance. When signing students out early for an appointment, please also sign them out at the office and your child will be called up to the office to meet you.
Well done to our Whitty Dads for hosting a soccer clinic on Sunday on the school oval. A number of families from Kindy to Year 6 participated in some drills and games. Thanks to Shane Ukich and Colin Gormley for coordinating this great opportunity for our dads and kids to spend some quality time together.
Families are welcome to attend the 3W Senior Assembly on Friday afternoon.
Best wishes and God Bless

Youth Week WA 2026 – Snapshot WA and Digime Initiatives
As part of Youth Week WA 2026, the Commissioner for Children and Young People is inviting children and young people across Western Australia to take part in two engagement initiatives: Snapshot WA, a new photography competition, and DigiMe the Commission’s online engagement platform.
Both initiatives invite participants to reflect on and respond to the question: What are you most proud of in your community or culture? These opportunities are designed to provide children and young people with meaningful ways to reflect their everyday lives, communities, cultures and places that give them a sense of belonging. Snapshot WA enables young people to express themselves visually through photography, aligned with the Youth Week WA 2026 theme “Strength in Our Stories,” while DigiMe offers a flexible and inclusive online platform for sharing their views in their own words.
Snapshot WA is open to young people aged 8 to 17 years living in Western Australia. Participation is free, and entrants are invited to submit original photographs that reflect their everyday lives, communities and cultures. DigiMe is open to children and young people across the state and provides an accessible way to engage online. Participation in both initiatives is voluntary and designed to be inclusive. Entries for Snapshot WA are now open and will close on 28 May 2026, with submissions made digitally via the Commissioner for Children and Young People website. A selection of photographs will be featured in an online gallery launching in late June 2026, when competition winners will also be announced.

CEWA Announcement | Three-week Mid-Year Break
Catholic Education WA (CEWA) has announced it intends to implement a three-week mid-year break across its 150 schools from the 2027 academic year. The implementation of this initiative will not only bring our school in line with practices at other Independent Catholic Schools but is based on significant research into how the change will positively impact teaching, learning, and wellbeing. I want to stress that there won’t be any changes to the hours of instruction your child receives as a result of this initiative, however small adjustments to individual term calendars and school timetables may be required. Please see the link below for frequently asked questions regarding the implementation of the three-week break.

The Beginner’s Engineering & Robotics Program teaches students theoretical knowledge in software and mechanical engineering, mathematics, and physics.

Through these hands-on projects, students will learn key engineering and coding concepts including centrifugal and centripetal force, gear transmission, spiral (snail) gear transmission for speed reduction, and angle (crown) gear transmission for directional movement. PUBLISHING PHOTOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Please note that, while staff at WCPS take a lot of care to ensure that children who do not have permission to be published do not appear on the school’s social media, this process is undertaken manually and occasionally photos will be missed.
If you notice your child has been published and you would like their photo removed, please contact the school office.
