Message From The Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Congratulations to our Year 4 students on making their First Holy Communion a few weekends ago. This was a very reverent celebration of initiation. Thank you to Fr Cyp, Fr Tri, Rosellie our Parish Sacramental Coordinator, our families, Mrs Hopkins, Mrs Pitman, Mrs Herbison, Mr Croxford and Mr Carter for making this so special for our students.
One Big Voice occurred on Friday evening and was an excellent experience for our choir. Students loved the opportunity, performed confidently and contributed skilfully to the large choir. It was great to see so many parents and carers there supporting them. Thank you to Mrs Chapman for her efforts in preparing the choir and for organising our participation. We also appreciate parents and staff who assisted in the background.
Last week and on Monday, we held several carnivals including the Year 5 and 6 Throws, Jumps; Year 3 and 4 Throws, Jumps; 400m and 800m; Junior Athletics; and Senior Athletics. These were well organised events which enabled the students to come together united, to try their best and work cooperatively as a faction. These carnivals provide opportunities for students to demonstrate some of the skills they have learned at Physical Education and Sport lessons, to try and beat their previous personal best and to encourage and support the development of their team mates. It is also a great way for our Year 6 students to show the responsibility they have developed as leaders and to assist staff to prepare each student for their events. The carnival requires much work in the background, and we are thankful to Mr D’Adamo and Mrs Knox for the many hours that go into these events and to Mr Garner and Mr Briggs for ensuring the grounds were ready and looked great for the day. We would also like to thank the many parents/carers, grandparents and family members who attended to make these great community events that are enjoyed by all. Thank you in particularly to parents/carers and staff for assisting to set up, volunteering for roles during the day and for assisting to pack up at the end.
Best wishes to our Tournament of Minds teams who will compete this weekend at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup. They have been working hard with Mrs Hales to prepare. This is a great part of our extension program, and we thank the many staff and families who are supporting this on Saturday.
We look forward to welcoming our many dads, grandfathers and father figures to our breakfast on Friday morning. Thank you for what you do for your children and for the assistance and support you provide to our school.

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY
School photo day is coming! Every student will receive a personalised flyer to bring home from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.
Photos are scheduled for Tuesday 2nd, Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th September. Class teachers will notify you via weekly news which day their photo is being taken.
KEEP YOUR FLYER SECURE!
The unique codes contained on the flyer will be issued only once.
Order EARLY for sibling photography
Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive the personalised flyers for your children, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.
If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.
The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.
Order EARLY for discount photo day prices
Order your photos up to 10 calendar days after photo day to receive discount photo day prices. Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $30 custom service charge.
Other information
Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please check the FAQ’s on the Kapture website.
We request that students who are displaying signs of respiratory and / or gastrointestinal illnesses do not attend school specifically to be included in their class photo. Having students with communicable illnesses attend the photography venues puts other students, school staff and Kapture staff at risk – especially those that are already immunocompromised. Students who are unable to attend school photo day can book a studio appointment at our Malaga office to be photographed during school holidays. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Your school will notify you in a few weeks when team and special group photos are available to view and purchase on the Kapture website. Please note; class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.
All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.

CEWA | Audio Logo Music Competition 2025
Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) is introducing an audio logo (a distinctive jingle) and longer pieces of music to be featured across all video and audio marketing content, including advertising, radio, social media, videos and more.
This initiative aims give CEWA a recognisable audio identity – much like a visual logo, but made of music.
To bring this to life, we’re inviting students from all CEWA schools to take part in the CEWA Audio Logo Music Competition. This is a chance for students to showcase their musical talents and produce a ‘student version’ of the music.
By taking part, students will form a key part of CEWA’s official audio presence, fostering creativity, pride, and a sense of community.

To enter the CEWA Audio Logo Music Competition, follow these simple steps:
Review the Materials:
- Download and review the official CEWA audio logo and sheet music provided.
Create your entry:
- Record a 60-second video of your school’s musical performance.
- Ensure the video and audio quality is clear. Please record in landscape format.
- All musical styles are welcome – we encourage schools to showcase their unique or preferred genres and put their own creative spin on the logo.
- Performances can include soloists, small groups, or whole-school ensembles.

CEWA Announcement | Three-week Mid-Year Break
Catholic Education WA (CEWA) has announced it intends to implement a three-week mid-year break across its 150 schools from the 2027 academic year. The implementation of this initiative will not only bring our school in line with practices at other Independent Catholic Schools but is based on significant research into how the change will positively impact teaching, learning, and wellbeing. I want to stress that there won’t be any changes to the hours of instruction your child receives as a result of this initiative, however small adjustments to individual term calendars and school timetables may be required. Please see the link below for frequently asked questions regarding the implementation of the three-week break.
Winter Uniform | Term 3
Students are required to wear winter uniforms in Term 3.
Reminder, this is the 3rd and final year of the new uniform transition and the last term your child can wear the old style winter uniform.

VacSwim Programs
As we head towards summer, many families are starting to get back into the water or planning holidays by the beach, rivers or swimming pools. It is important we help them support their child to stay safe and confident in the water.
VacSwim provides children 5 to 17 years of age with the opportunity to develop and progress their swimming and water safety skills during the school holidays across the State. There are programs for beginner, intermediate and advanced swimmers.

Netball – Spring NET Program – WDNA – Pre Primary and Year 1
In the NET program children are introduced to the basics of netball through fun, simple activities that keep them moving and engaged.
This program is run directly through WDNA not via Whitford Catholic Netball Club.
This program will be held over 8 weeks and is run on Tuesday afternoons, 4:00pm to 4:45pm at the far courts at WDNA (Kingsway Sporting Complex), from the 14th October to 2nd December.
This is for players born between 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2020.

Under no circumstances are dogs of any size or kind to be brought on to school grounds. Some students have allergies to dogs and others may be frightened of dogs or especially attracted to dogs, which may cause a dangerous situation for students and staff. Parent cooperation with this matter is appreciated.
