EARLY YEARS LEARNING
In the early years at Whitford Catholic Primary School we nurture a child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive development and communication skills by providing a quality, child-focused program guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standard and the Western Australian Kindergarten Guidelines and Curriculum.
Young children learn best by doing – when they are actively involved in their environment and can build knowledge based on their experiences.
At Whitford Catholic Primary School, our early learning areas promote hands-on play experiences that allow our children to grow to their full potential and our educators are able to consider the needs and interests of every child.
We believe that play provides children with opportunities to develop physical competence, enjoyment of the outdoors, understand and make sense of their world, interact with others, express and control emotions, develop their problem-solving abilities and gives them opportunities to practise emerging skills.
By following the above approach, we ensure that our students are actively engaged in a balanced curriculum, whilst at the same time celebrating the journey of learning!
